Being an Intern at Trinity Trails is a great way to grow closer to God, to learn more about horses and learn more about yourself. A summer at Trinity Trails will be a challenge in many ways (physically, mentally and emotionally). The greatest challenge will be in keeping focused on the goal. The reason for all the madness is to get a chance to tell one child the truth about God, and the price that Jesus paid so we could live with God in Heaven. As horse people, telling kids about the relationship between God and us is so simple because it can be compared to a horse and its rider.
Your main goal this summer is not to teach kids how to ride horses; it is to tell kids about Jesus’ desire to have a relationship with them. If every child that comes to camp this summer learns nothing about horses, but goes home knowing that Jesus loves them, and wants to have a personal relationship with them, and they have fun, then we will have had a great summer.
The biggest thing you as a wrangler will struggle with is burnout. Being mentally, emotionally and physically drained week after week will be a common occurrence, but this job cannot be done the way God intends it to on our strength alone. Staying in the word and praying this summer will be the most important part of your life here at Trinity Trails. If you don’t stay in God’s word, pray, and stay in touch with Him, you will struggle your entire summer. My hope for you is that you stay focused on our goal and that you grow in your faith and leave here walking closer and trusting in our Lord and savior.
